MANILA, Philippines—Taal Volcano has calmed down, prompting the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology to lower its alert from Level 2 to Level 1.
Phivolcs said the number of volcanic earthquakes recorded on a daily basis has decreased, as well as the steam from the volcano. The emission of carbon dioxide has also decreased.
Phivolcs raised the Taal alert to Level 2 last April 9 and warned people against getting close to the volcano.
