This is one wedding anniversary they will never forget.
Burglars broke into the quarters of an Army colonel right inside Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City—the headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)—and made off with his car as well as two cell phones over the weekend.
Colonel Nelson Chedrome, who is assigned to the AFP Dental Service, said that he had parked his green Mazda Familia with license plate UPJ 652 in front of his quarters on Capinpin Avenue.
But when he and his wife came home at around 4 a.m. on Saturday, the car was no longer there.
The couple had just come from a celebration since it was their wedding anniversary, case investigator Senior Police Officer 3 Edwin Sison of the Quezon City Police District said.
The burglars also broke into the couple’s house by cutting a hole in the screen of one of the windows.
They ransacked the place although nothing was reported missing except for two cell phones and the keys to the missing car.
The police said that the burglars likewise went through two other cars owned by the colonel although they left the vehicles alone, taking only the Mazda.
A check of the footage taken by a closed circuit television camera later showed that the car had left the military camp through Gate 2.
