Recto denies rumors that he will replace Bersamin

MANILA, Philippines — Finance Secretary Ralph Recto denied on Monday rumors that he would replace Lucas Bersamin as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s executive secretary, saying that his” marching orders for today” are still within the finance department. 

In an ambush interview, Recto said he is not aware of any cabinet revamp at present.

“There is no offer. My marching orders today are in finance. It has always been in the [Department of Finance],” said Recto. 

“There is no offer, there’s nothing to accept,” he added later on, emphasizing that he was not a part of any meeting surrounding the matter.

Politiko reported on Saturday that a Cabinet revamp under President Marcos could see Bersamin replaced by Finance Secretary Ralph Recto.  Meanwhile, the Department of Finance would be headed by Special Assistant to the President for Investment and Economic Affairs Frederick Go.

Bersamin has denied rumors of a Palace exit.

“Not true until it actually happens. I don’t know how the speculation started,” Bersamin said then./coa
