College in Davao del Sur’s capital suspends classes due to bomb threat

DIGOS CITY – The management of Cor Jesu College (CJC) here has declared a suspension of classes on Monday following a bomb threat early in the morning.

Cor Jesu College announced on its official Facebook page that there would be no face-to-face classes at any level, advising teachers and students to revert to distance learning until further notice.

Lt. Col.Peter Glenn Ipong, the acting chief of the Digos City police, immediately dispatched police investigators to the school. He also coordinated with the Explosive and Ordnance Division (EOD) to conduct an intensive investigation and to scour the entire area.

Kirt Diaz, Cor Jesu College’s vice president for academic studies, confirmed the school received a bomb threat, prompting management to suspend face-to-face classes for the security and safety of their staff, teachers, and students. Diaz did not elaborate.

Diaz also said the responding policemen who inspected the area failed to find anything hidden that could resemble a bomb within the school premises.

“It turned out to be negative. However, the school will strengthen its security protocols to ensure that everybody will be safe when the face-to-face classes resume on Tuesday,” Diaz said./coa
