Woman caught hiding drugs inside bra in foiled smuggle try at Tagbilaran jail

CEBU CITY, Philippines —A 23-year-old woman is now detained at the police station in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, after she was caught attempting to smuggle in illegal drugs hidden in her bra into a jail facility, according to local police.

Amabel Ragas, a resident of Tagbilaran, will be charged with possession of dangerous drugs in violation of section 11, Article 2 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act on Monday, according to Senior Police Officer 3 Yolando Bagotchay, Tagbilaran police investigator.

Ragas was about to visit her friend, Romeo Blanco, at the Tagbilaran City Jail in Barangay Cabawan about 2 p.m. on Thursday when a female jail guard found four ampules of Nalbin under her bra.

Nalbin is a brand of nalbuphine hydrochloride – a regulated analgesic which is abused by drug dependents.

Bagotchay said Ragas was subjected to body frisk, a standard operating procedure for visitors of inmates in Tagbilaran City Jail.

But Jail Officer 1 Diana Abay-abay found the 4 pieces of Nalbin ampules wrapped with transparent plastic cellophane on Ragas’ left breast and hidden under her bra.

The Nalbin ampules were wrapped with transparent plastic cellphone and placed in her left breast, which were then covered by her bra.

Bagotchay said Ragas didn’t answer questions during the investigation by the police.

But he said they suspected that the ampules of Nalbin were meant for Blanco, who was detained for possession of illegal drugs.
