ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines—A six-year old boy died Monday at a hospital in Liloy, Zamboanga del Norte, four days after he was attacked by a nine-year-old schoolmate, the police said Tuesday.
Chief Superintendent Elpidio de Asis, chief of the Western Mindanao police office, said Ernesto Gando Jr. died at the Liloy General Hospital on July 4.
He said investigation by the Tampilisan police showed that Gando was “hit” by a schoolmate on July 1 and had to be rushed to the hospital for unspecified injuries.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer is withholding the name of the offender in compliance with the law because he is a minor.
“A teacher of the victim reported that Gando died at Liloy General Hospital. The Tampilisan police is currently investigating the incident,” de Asis said.
