Towing firm sues Mandaue City
AFTER its contract with Mandaue City was rescinded last month, Jadewell Parking Systems Corp. is suing City Hall for P33 million in damages.
The lawsuit was filed before the Regional Trial Court of Mandaue City on Thursday for rescission of their service contract that would have ended in 2015.
The company is asking for “P15 million for their investments, another P15 million for actual and compensatory damages representing the expected income balance of the 12 years” stipulated under the Memorandum of Agreement with the Mandaue City government.
They also asked Mandaue City to pay P2 million for exemplary damages and another P1 million for attorney’s fees.
Rogelio Tan, president of Jadewell in a press conference, said they weighed the decision carefully and have been “thinking a thousand times” to file the case and challenge the cease and desist order issued by the Mandaue City government last May 5.
“We tried to settle things with Mandaue City before bringing the issue to the court, unfortunately, the city government did not talk to us.” /Correspondent Fe Marie D. Dumaboc and Norman V. Mendoza
