Carwash operator gunned down in QC despite plea for his life

MANILA, Philippines – Carwash operator David Calimposan pleaded for his life but the lone gunman was not moved.

The 40-year-old victim was shot dead early Friday morning while tending his carwash shop at his home in Barangay (village) Balonbato in Balintawak, Quezon City.

Calimposan died while being treated for two gunshot wounds at the MCU Hospital at around 5:47 am.

Case investigator Police Officer 1 Roldan Cornejo said the victim, who was shot at 4 a.m. was heard pleading with his killer to spare him, shouting, “It was not me!” in Filipino.

But the two carwash attendants who heard their boss utter those words told police that they had no idea what the victim meant.

The shop had just opened up for business when the two attendants noticed that a man was already standing and waiting outside the establishment.

Their boss was sitting on a bench in front of the shop when the man approached him.

Busy with work, the two workers went ahead with their chores when they heard the victim shout “Hindi ako yon!” after which several shots rang out.

Residents saw the gunman walk away and board a waiting motorcycle driven by a companion.

Cornejo said the victim’s family did not know of any reason why anyone wanted Calimposan dead.
