MANILA, Philippines — As Filipinos prepare to visit their deceased loved ones next weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Saturday said a rainy Undas is possible.
This is what Pagasa weather forecaster Leanne Loreto answered when asked about weather conditions expected on November 1, when Filipinos observe All Saints’ Day by going to cemeteries to pay their respects to the dead.

“We see that rains are possible on Undas. This is possible due to the [intertropical convergence zone or] ITCZ or a formation of a weather disturbance,” Loreto said in an interview on dzMM Teleradyo.
However, Loreto said: “The uncertainty of this weather scenario during Undas is still high.”
She advised the public to stay updated with weather information from the agency.

In its 5 a.m. weather forecast, Pagasa said the shear line, or the convergence of warm and cold winds, would bring cloudy skies, and scattered rainshowers or thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.
It added that the rest of Luzon, including Metro Manila, would experience cloudy skies and isolated rainshowers due to easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean.
Aside from this, the ITCZ, or the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres, will result in cloudy skies and scattered rainshowers in Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Pagasa said these weather systems may prevail until Monday. /das
