Four persons injured in Danao vehicular collision
FOUR persons were injured in a collision between a passenger multicab, a tricycle and a motorcycle rider in barangay Maslog, Danao City, in northern Cebu at past 9 a.m. yesterday.
Police said the multicab bearing plate GXR 331 driven by Roxanne Sabas was headed to Danao City when it overtook a vehicle on reaching barangay Maslog at past 9 a.m.
In overtaking the vehicle, the multicab sideswiped a tricycle driven by David Calvo Jr., who was headed to Cebu City. Calvo lost control and swerved to the opposite lane at the shoulder of the road.
The impact of the collision turned the tricycle upside down and injured Calvo’s two passengers identified as 49-year-old Carmelita Berdon and 32-year-old Maria Liz Batoon.
Police said Sabas lost control of the multicab, which traversed a few meters and hit a Suzuki motorcycle driven by Mark Quem Anugot, who was also headed to Cebu City.
Anugot was thrown off his motorcycle and crashed in the pavement while the multicab tumbled down the seashore about five meters away from the road.

“He (Sabas) said he drove the multicab in low speed but the tricycle was at the center line of the road,” said SPO1 Reynante Manulat of the Danao City Traffic Group. Sabas is detained at the Danao police precinct pending charges to be filed against him. Reporter Rhea Ruth V. Rosell
