According to Pagasa, the now-weakened Salome was last spotted 145 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Depression Salome weakened into a low pressure area on Thursday afternoon and may then dissipate within the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Due to the cold and dry air from the northeasterly wind flow, Salome weakened into a low pressure area at 2 p.m. today,” Pagasa said in its latest typhoon bulletin.

“The remnant flow will continue to move generally southwestward and may dissipate within the next 24 hours,” it added.

According to Pagasa, the now-LPA was last spotted 145 kilometers west northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

All tropical cyclone wind signals have also been lifted after the weather system was downgraded to an LPA. /cb
