A 29-year-old man died after he was stabbed by his uncle during a heated argument in Caloocan City on Sunday night.

The stabbing happened in the victim’s house at Phase 6, Barangay 176 in Camarin.

The police said Michael Rollo Garcia was rushed to Jose Rodriguez Memorial Hospital after he was attacked by Arnel Rosas Rollo, his 42-year-old uncle.

“Because of the depth of the stab wounds, Garcia was declared dead on arrival shortly before midnight,” case investigator Senior Police Officer 2 Joselito de los Reyes told the Inquirer.

Initial investigation showed that an argument broke out between the two men after Rollo—who lived in the same house as the victim—scolded the latter’s mother about the way she disciplined her sons.

“Earlier in the day, Rollo had complained to Olive, his sister. He asked [her] why his nephews would always arrive home late and why she could not discipline them [in] the way she should,” the police said.

One of the victim’s brothers, Angelito, overheard the conversation, and told him about it.

“Garcia was visibly irked. He confronted his mother that night and when he asked why his uncle was meddling in their personal affairs, Rollo, who had heard everything, came out of nowhere and flew into a rage,” the police said.

The two men argued and Rollo took a knife and stabbed the victim twice in the chest.

Policemen later arrested him even as he claimed that the stabbing was an accident.—Kristine Felisse Mangunay
