BAGUIO CITY, Philippines—A policeman shot and killed two fellow policemen and two other men, including the celebrant of a birthday party in Tinoc, Ifugao on Saturday night, reports reaching the Cordillera police on Monday said.
Superintendent Englebert Soriano, spokesperson of the Cordillera police, said the suspect, Police Officer (PO) 1 Mark Davis Dulnuan, fled after shooting and killing PO1 Leonbinep Binwihan, PO1 Tom Udan, Marcial Calayen and the birthday celebrant, Benjamin Madino Jr.
Another policeman, PO1 Dexter Cattiling, was wounded in the attack.
Ifugao policemen later arrested Dulnuan in a village in the boundary of Kiangan and Tinoc towns at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday. The policemen were assigned to the second company of the Regional Public Safety Battalion in Tinoc.
Soriano, quoting PO1 Kevin Pataweg who witnessed spree, said the policemen were invited by Madino to a party in his house in Barangay (village) Poblacion.
He said that while the policemen, Madino and other guests were drinking at 7:20 p.m., Dulnuan and Udan suddenly had a heated argument.
Soriano said Pataweg could not say what triggered the argument between the two policemen.
It was in the middle of the argument that Dulnuan drew his .45 cal. pistol and shot Udan.
Dulnuan, reports said, then shot the other men before he fled.
Chief Superintendent Villamor Bumanglag, Cordillera police director, relieved all personnel of the RPSB’s second company in Tinoc pending investigation of the attack.
