Nando now a super typhoon – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Nando (international name: Ragasa) intensified into a super typhoon on Sunday morning, the state weather bureau said.
In its 10 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Nando had reached the super typhoon category as of 8 a.m. Pagasa added that the weather system remains inside the Philippine area of responsibility.

Pagasa also reported that Nando was last located 555 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, as of 8 a.m. It gained strength, carrying a wind speed of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
Nando was moving westward at 15 kph.
Meanwhile, the agency said Tropical Cyclone Neoguri exited the monitoring domain for tropical cyclone formation.

According to Pagasa’s 5 a.m. bulletin, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was hoisted over the following areas:
- Batanes
- Cagayan, including Babuyan Islands
- Northeastern portion of Isabela (San Mariano, Ilagan City, Tumauini, Cabagan, Palanan, Divilacan, Maconacon, San Pablo, Santa Maria, Santo Tomas, Delfin Albano)
- Eastern portion of Apayao (Luna, Santa Marcela, Pudtol, Flora)
- Eastern portion of Kalinga (Rizal)
TCWS No. 1 was also raised in the following areas in Luzon:
- Rest of Isabela
- Quirino
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Rest of Kalinga
- Rest of Apayao
- Abra
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Benguet
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Northern portion of Zambales (Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Masinloc, Palauig)
- Northern and central portions of Nueva Ecija (Carranglan, Lupao, San Jose City, Pantabangan, Bongabon, Laur, Gabaldon, General Mamerto Natividad, Rizal, Llanera, Talavera, Science City of Muñoz, Santo Domingo, Talugtug, Palayan City, Cuyapo, Nampicuan, Guimba, Licab, Quezon, Aliaga, Cabanatuan City, Santa Rosa, Zaragoza, Jaen, San Leonardo, General Tinio, Peñaranda)
