250 metro cops secure US Embassy for Independence Day
Manila, Philippines—Some 250 policemen have been deployed to secure the United States Embassy Monday as it commemorated Independence Day, Manila Police District (MPD) director Chief Superintendent Roberto Rongavilla told INQUIRER.net.
The MPD chief stated that uniformed and non-uniformed police personnel from the MPD and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) kept a close watch on the embassy in anticipation of demonstrations by militants.
“We received information that there will be more or less 80 people from different groups who will rally in front of the US Embassy today,” Rongavilla said.
The US Embassy was closed for the day in observance of the US Independence Day and will resume its services Tuesday.
