Militants march to US Embassy
MANILA, Philippines – Militants left Mendiola Tuesday afternoon and were on their way to the US Embassy in Roxas Boulevard.
The group of about 600, as estimated by Superintendent Frumencio Bernal of the Manila Police District, left at 1:15 p.m.
“The intensifying US economic, political, cultural, and military intervention, coupled with. [President Benigno] Aquino [III’s] rabid puppetry is the biggest slap to Philippine independence,” Kilusang Mambubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) deputy secretary general Willy Marbella said.
The group, which massed in Mendiola to denounce President Benigno Aquino III’s snail-paced implementation of land reform, will take Ayala Bridge then turn left to Taft, and right to Kalaw.
