Gary David is a man on a mission as he notched his second straight Player of the Week award after he gained the nod for the period of June 4 to 10 in the season-ending PBA Governors’ Cup.
The choice was a virtual lock-on for David after he scored 30 points in helping the Powerade Tigers snap the unbeaten streak of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 104-98.
It was the Tigers’ third win in a row after starting the conference with two straight losses.
Import Omar Sneed lent a big hand with 24 points and 20 rebounds, but it was David’s latest explosion that tickled the most.
Making the scoring feat of David extra special was the fact that he made history in scoring 20 or more points for the 19th straight time, tying the feat done by Danny Seigle in 2006. It was also David’s 18th game this season with at least 30 points.
David went scoreless in the second quarter of that game. But he went on to scatter 19 points in the second half, including 11 in the payoff period. In all, he went 9-for-24 from the field and a perfect 10-for-10 from the stripe./Correspondent Jonas Panerio
