NLEX wins Game 1

The NLEX Road Warriors moved a step closer towards achieving a historic feat as they stopped the Big Chill Superchargers, 86-71, in Game 1 of the Finals of the PBA D-League Foundation Cup yesterday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

It was NLEX’s 12th straight win as the Road Warriors pulled themselves a victory away from claiming the championship again.

Calvin Abueva came off the bench and scored 16 points to show the way the for the Road Warriors, who could clinched their third straight championship and become the first team in the fledgling league to finish a conference without a loss on Thursday.

A close match was expected by many but it turned out to be clinic for the Road Warriors as they dominated the Superchargers in nearly all aspects.

Ian Sanggalang tallied 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting while reserves RR Garcia and Jake Pascual added 12 and 11 respectively for NLEX, which shot 51 percent for the game. Correspondent Jonas Panerio
