Super Idolz bag 8th IBP hoops diadem
The Super Idolz tripped Pañeros, 59-54, last Saturday to capture the championship of the 8th Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP)-2012 Summer basketball tournament at the Capitol Parish gym.
The Super Idolz proved too hot for the younger Pañeros as the former staged a blistering 15-8 rally in the 2nd period for a commanding 13-point lead, 37-24 at the half behind Jason Piquero and Fermin Pepito.
Paneros outscored the Super Idolz with three minutes left in the fourth, 16-11 to come to within one, 50-51, but the latter’s Benjo Macion and Fermin Pepito canned crucial baskets for the close win.
Pepito led Super Idolz with 17 points while Macion and Jason Piquero added a combined 22 points. Ruel Juban and Barry Busi paced Pañeros with 15 and 12 points.
Earlier, Bads Del Prado fired a game-high 20 points while 3-point artist Lito Ortiz and Richard Bauzon combined for 31 markers as Los Demonyous captured the third place trophy with a, 79-70 win over Pecandela Law Firm.
Dennis Tenefrancia and Sam Malazarte paced Pecandela with 22 and 18 points, respectively.
