SCTEx toll hike takes effect Sept. 9

MANILA, Philippines — Motorists will pay higher fees to use the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) as part of the third and final toll rate adjustment tranche starting next Tuesday, September 9, the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corporation announced.
Motorists with Class 1 vehicles will pay an additional P0.64 per kilometer (km), while those with Class 2 vehicles will pay an additional P1.29 per km and those with Class 3 vehicles will pay an additional P1.93 per km, the NLEX Corporation explained in a statement on Saturday.
Class 1 vehicles include cars and sports utility vehicles, Class 2 vehicles include buses and small commercial trucks, while Class 3 vehicles include large trucks and trailers.

Class 1 vehicles travelling from the Mabiga Interchange in Mabalacat City, Pampanga to Tarlac will pay an additional P25, while Class 2 vehicles on the same route will pay an additional P51 and Class 3 vehicles will pay an additional P75.
Meanwhile, motorists with Class 1 vehicles traveling from the Mabiga Interchange in Mabalacat City to Tipo in Hermosa, Bataan will pay an additional P40, while those with Class 2 vehicles will pay an additional P80 and those with Class 3 vehicles will pay an additional P121.
Further, the NLEX Corporation said Class 1 vehicles will pay an additional P66 to travel along the entirety of the SCTEX; Class 2 vehicles will pay an additional P131; and Class 3 vehicles will pay an additional P197.
“The additional rates, which followed strict compliance with regulatory procedures and thorough review, are part of the approved 2020/2022 petition for periodic adjustments for SCTEX due in 2021 and 2023,” the NLEX Corporation explained in the statement.
“The TRB (Toll Regulatory Board), the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), and NLEX Corporation agreed to implement the adjustments in three tranches over three years to lessen the impact on motorists,” it added. /mr
