THE Talisay City Council passed a resolution requesting the city’s barangay captains to submit water samples from their groundwater sources after the Cebu Provincial Health Office reported that some sources are contaminated.
Councilor Richard Francis Aznar, author of the resolution, said the reassessment of all drinking water sources in the city will prevent an outbreak of waterborne diseases.
“The health of the people is of paramount importance,” the resolution states.
Yvonne Carinosa, Provincial Medical Technologist earlier reported that water samples taken on June 7 from “Tuong Tingbanan”, “FVSP Cooperative” and “Improve Spring” in sitios Kanlaling and Kampinsa in barangay Manipis contained abnormal levels of E. coli bacteria.
The bacteria thrives in animal or human waste.
