Rockslides block Mountain Province road

ROXAS, Isabela — Massive rockslides triggered by heavy rains sent huge boulders and debris crashing onto the Barlig–Natonin national road, blocking the Lunas section in Barlig town, Mountain Province, at around noon on Monday, the Barlig local government reported.

Personnel from the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO) and the police immediately secured the site and barred motorists from entering the area.

Given the volume of rocks covering the highway, the Barlig local government said clearing operations may take some time.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has been tasked to clear the roadway, and motorists have been advised to take alternative routes./coa
