06:58 AM June 09, 2012

THE PHILIPPINE Red Cross-Lapu-Lapu/Cordova chapter gears up for its Run For Humanity on June 24 starting at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall grounds.

This is the second run hosted by the group. Last year, they also held the Million Volunteers Run.

Organizers decided to offer cash prizes for the winners in each category to make the race more competitive.

Vic Jay Gonzal, PRC Lapu-Lapu-Cordova chapter administrator, said they will also be giving out raffle prizes to give non-winners a chance to win prizes after the race.

Last year’s Million Volunteer Run, held simultaneously in key cities, was aimed at producing funds for active Red Cross volunteers. This year, the organizers are looking to generate funds to equip volunteers with proper training and the necessary tools for disaster preparedness.

Interested participants can go to registration areas at the PRC Lapu-Lapu-Cordova Chapter in R. Dela Cerna St. Poblacion, Lapu-Lapu City, at the Gaisano Mactan Island Mall or at the Lapu-Lapu City Hall lobby. Registration can also be done at the RUNNR Ayala Center Cebu and at the Marina Mall. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G.ROSAL
