WAKEBOARDERS and wakeskaters from all over Asia will gather today in Pandanon, an island off Getafe, Bohol, for the Wake Jam, the kickoff competition and party of the Bohol Wakefest 2012.
Participants are expected to wow the crowd with their skills not only in the contest but in a demo which will be held prior to the competition.
Aside from international participants from Thailand, Singapore and Sweden, the Philippines will also be represented by participants from Camsur and Davao.
The Philippine’s campaign will be led by Jenette Beltran, the current no. 1 female in the Asian Wake Park Tour.
The wake camp and competition is spearheaded by Singapore-based The Board Shop in cooperation with the municipality of Getafe, Bohol as a preview of Getafe’s project of setting up its own cable wake park similar to the Camsur Watersports Complex to boost its tourism.
Categories to be contested are open men’s and women’s wakeboard and open men’s and women’s wakeskate. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
