MANILA, Philippines–A monsoon trough affecting Luzon will bring rains in parts of the country, the state weather bureau said Friday.

Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said.

A monsoon trough is an extension of low pressure area associated with intense rainfall.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the South to Southwest over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough, Pagasa said.
