Bohol Wakefest 2012 set today in Pandanon Island

THE Bohol Wakefest 2012 finally gets underway today on Pandanon Island after it got hampered by weather conditions and technical difficulties. The wakeboarding camp was supposed to open last May 25.

Jenette Beltran, marketing and PR executive of The Board Shop, also confirmed that the Wake Jam, a kickoff competition and party, will also push through this Sunday.

Beltran, the top female wakeskater in the Philippines and in Asia and also the current No.1 female in the Asian Wake Park Tour, added that some of the participants from Camsur, Davao and Thailand are already in Pandanon while the Singaporean competitors will be arriving today.

According to Beltran, she might be competing in the women’s wakeskate event wherein some of the participants come from Sweden aside from the locals.

The camp and competition is spearheaded by Singapore-based The Board Shop in cooperation with the municipality of Getafe, Bohol as a preview of Getafe’s plan of setting up its own cable wake park similar to the Camsur Watersports Complex to boost tourism.

The Board Shop has set up the best-selling German-engineered two-tower cable park system—the Sesitec System 2.0 on Pandanon Island for the event.

Rates are pagged at P900 for whole day and P600 for half day. Rates are inclusive of wakeboarding, wakeboard instructions, use of life vest, helmet, kneeboard and the wakeboard. /CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
