3 names officially nominated to be next Chief Justice—JBC
MANILA, Philippines—The Judicial and Bar Council revealed three names officially nominated to be the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, said a report from Radyo Inquirer early Thursday.
Lawyer Jose Mejia of the JBC said lawyer Katrina Legarda, Solicitor General Francis Jardeleza and Ateneo de Manila College of Law Dean Cesar Villanueva are among those nominated for the post vacated by ousted chief justice Renato Corona.
On acting capacity as chief magistrate is Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio.
Mejia added there are many individuals nominated on Wednesday, which was the first day of the search. The JBC accepts applications and nominations until June 18.
