Agap party list asks Supreme Court for TRO on electric cooperatives

/ 06:04 PM June 07, 2012

MANILA, Philippines—A temporary restraining order was sought by Agap Party-list from Supreme Court justices regarding their petition to prevent electric cooperatives from asking mandatory contributions to their members.

AGAP Party-list Representative Nick Briones said the Supreme Court should act immediately to stop the abusive acts against members.

Briones revealed the collections made by 119 electric cooperatives from members have reached P100 billion.

He said if the high court will help in stoping the collections of mandatory contributions, the cost of electricity from electric cooperatives will go down.
