Wet, rainy weekend in Luzon until Sunday due to Typhoon Emong, ‘habagat’

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rains are expected in many almost all parts of Luzon until Sunday evening, July 27, due to the combined effects of Typhoon Emong (international name: Co-may) and the southwest monsoon (habagat), according to the state weather bureau.
Floods and landslides are possible in affected areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned.
Emong made landfall in the vicinity of Agno, Pangasinan at 10:40 p.m. on Thursday, Pagasa said in its 11:00 p.m. bulletin.
In its heavy rainfall outlook also at 11:00 p.m., Pagasa said Emong and the”habagat” will bring heavy rains to the following areas:

Emong was packing winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 165 kph while slowly moving to the east.
