LOOK: Flooding outside Senate

MANILA, Philippines — Heavy rain brought by the southwest monsoon caused gutter-deep flooding outside the Senate building in Pasay City on Tuesday morning.
In its advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) warned residents in Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, and Occidental Mindoro of heavy monsoon rain that may bring 100 to 200 millimeters of rainfall.

The state weather bureau subsequently advised dwellers in these areas to be vigilant against flooding in areas that are urbanized, low-lying, or near rivers, as well as landslides in moderate to highly susceptible areas.

Work in the upper chamber was partially suspended on July 22.
Senate President Francis Escudero instructed that only Secretariat officials and employees whose presence and services are deemed necessary for preparations related to the inaugural session of the Senate in the 20th Congress and the Joint Session of Congress on July 28 are required to report for work on Tuesday./mcm
