House commends Corona prosecution team

MANILA, Philippines — A resolution commending the House prosecution panel and private prosecutors for their efforts in the impeachment trial of ousted chief justice Renato Corona was released Wednesday.

The prosecution panel’s secretariat team was also named in the three-page House Resolution 2462 which was introduced by Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and majority leader Neptali Gonzales II.

The entire prosecution team and even lawyer Vitaliano Aguirre who earned Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago’s ire during the impeachment proceedings were present when the resolution was read during a thanksgiving dinner.

It was the third thanksgiving dinner for the prosecutors.

But as it was the last day of the second regular session, lawmakers were asked to head back to the plenary before the House of Representatives went on sine die adjournment.
