MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has launched text and email notifications for the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP).

According to MMDA, motorists who have committed traffic violations will receive real-time notifications via both short message service (SMS) and email.

“A key feature of this initiative is that vehicle owners will receive notification via SMS even without an internet connection, so that immediate action may be taken as soon as they are notified, and for their convenience,” MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes said on Monday.

For SMS, Artes said “MMDA_NCAP” with no phone number would send the notification, while “no-reply@mmda.gov.ph” would send the email — messages from both platforms will be from no-reply senders.

He added that no payment links will be attached to the notifications to prevent scams.

Nevertheless, Artes told the public to remain cautious of suspicious messages containing links, which may cause potential scams.

Aside from this warning, Artes advised vehicle owners to update their records in the Land Transportation Office’s Land Transportation Management System so they can receive notifications. /mr
