241 UP Diliman students to graduate summa cum laude

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 241 students will graduate summa cum laude at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman.
In UP, graduating students with weighted average grades (WAG) of 1.20 or higher are given the honor of summa cum laude.
Meanwhile, 1,143 students will graduate magna cum laude, and 985 will graduate cum laude, UP said in a statement Friday, citing data from its University Registrar.
Last year, 286 students graduated summa cum laude, 1,109 graduated magna cum laude, and 788 graduated cum laude.

Themed “Lunas” (Remedy), this year’s commencement exercises will take place at the University Amphitheater at 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 6.
Veteran broadcaster Jessica Soho will be the ceremony’s guest speaker.
Meanwhile, graduating Philippine Studies student Mark Andy Pedere will give the valedictory address. He earned a WAG of 1.066. /jpv
