MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over the western portion of the Babuyan Islands, the western portion of Ilocos Norte, and the northwestern portion of Ilocos Sur as Tropical Depression Bising slightly intensifies.
In its bulletin issued at 11 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the center of Bising was located 28 kilometers west-northwest of Calayan, Cagayan.
It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.

Bising is moving westward at 15 kph.
“Tropical Depression Bising will continue moving generally northwestward slowly in the next 12 hours and may exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this afternoon,” said Pagasa. Afterward, the tropical depression is seen to turn northeastward over the sea west of extreme Northern Luzon.
However, Pagasa said a re-entry into the western boundary of the PAR is still possible by Sunday morning, July 6, and it may exit again through the northern boundary by Monday, July 7.

“The forecast track is highly uncertain and a possible southward shift resulting [in] hoisting of Wind Signal No. 2 over Batanes and Babuyan Islands is not ruled out,” said Pagasa. “Bising is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm by tomorrow and may further intensify as it moves over the sea south of Taiwan,” it added. The state weather bureau said areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may experience “minimal to minor impacts from strong winds” within the next 36 hours.
