Laguna Water solidifies commitment to environmental protection
Laguna Water marked the 2025 Philippine Arbor Day with its annual tree planting and nurturing program, Pasibol: Puno ng Pag-asa. Over 70 volunteers, including employees and key stakeholders, came together to plant 500 native tree saplings. The planting site spans half a hectare within the Camp Scouter Jaime B. Ching Campsite in Barangay Anibong, Pagsanjan, Laguna, which is managed by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Laguna Council.
Laguna Water, a Manila Water Non-East Zone operating unit providing water, wastewater, and environmental services in several municipalities in Laguna, marked the 2025 Philippine Arbor Day with its annual tree planting and nurturing program, Pasibol: Puno ng Pag-asa.
Over 70 volunteers, including employees and key stakeholders, came together to plant 500 native tree saplings. The planting site spans half a hectare within the Camp Scouter Jaime B. Ching Campsite in Barangay Anibong, Pagsanjan, Laguna, which is managed by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines – Laguna Council.
Roselyn Pagtananan, Head of the Pagsanjan Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, emphasized the importance of protecting the area due to its proximity to the town’s water source. She reaffirmed her office’s support for regular tree-growing activities that contribute to watershed conservation.

The Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) also supported Pasibol by providing the seedlings used during the activity. LLDA Community Development Officer Gerry Carandang noted, “When you look at the map, you’ll see that this area in Pagsanjan still has rich vegetation compared to other parts of Laguna. We’re proud to partner with Laguna Water in implementing projects like this across the province.”
Volunteers from Pagsanjan Water District, Laguna Water’s partner in delivering water and wastewater services in the municipality, also joined the initiative. Through their General Manager, Atty. Ledor Macalalag, the organization pledged to help protect the newly planted trees to ensure their growth into mature forest cover.
Kenneth Kim Villanueva, Laguna Water’s Expansion Operations Head, echoed the sentiments of partner agencies, highlighting the program’s relevance to the company’s mission. “Protecting the environment is part of our responsibility, as it is the source of the services we provide. Since Pasibol began in 2017, we’ve planted over 6,000 trees through the dedication of our employees and partners, helping safeguard watersheds and biodiversity,” he shared.
Earlier in June, Laguna Water employees also participated in a seed potting and soil bagging activity at the Modernized and Mechanized Forest Nursery of the University of the Philippines Los Baños. This initiative, led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources CALABARZON, supports the government’s greening programs. It also marks the second year of Laguna Water’s involvement in Project Greenshade, which aims to enhance forest cover and ecological resilience across the CALABARZON Region.
These efforts form part of Laguna Water’s contribution to the broader sustainability agenda of the Manila Water enterprise, reinforcing its commitment to water reliability and a sustainable future for all.
