FARMER DROWNS OFF SIBONGA

A 62-YEAR-OLD farmer drowned while fishing in the waters off barangay Candaguit, Sibonga town, southern Cebu.

Police said Virgilio Cavan fell to the water after he suffered an epileptic seizure while fishing with his two daughters.

AMERICAN FOUND DEAD

A 64-YEAR-OLD American was found dead in his home in sitio Kapuso-an, barangay Poblacion, Sibonga town, southern Cebu .

Police identified the fatality as Owen Karl King, a native of Murfreesboro, Arkansas.

King’s 22-year-old live-in partner Rodgeline Abiog told police that they slept together last Monday night.

The woman said King was no longer breathing when she checked on him at 4:30 a.m. yesterday.

The American was brought to the Deiparine Medical Clinic where the attending doctor declared him dead.

Police said there were no signs of foul play in the foreigner’s death. The body was brought to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes in Carcar City for autopsy.

CAR OVERTURNS, 10 HURT

TEN persons, including a one-year-old boy, were injured after the pick-up car they rode overturned in barangay Candaguit, Sibonga town, southern Cebu.

The driver of the vehicle Ambrosio Bia, 48, and his nine passengers were brought to the Carcar District Hospital. They were later transferred to a hospital in Cebu City for further treatment.

The accident happened past 2 p.m. last Sunday.

Police said the car was traveling toward barangay Lindongon when the rear left tire exploded, causing the vehicle to overturn.

SEPTIC TANK WORKERS NABBED

SEVEN workers of a private septic tank service were apprehended for throwing septic wastes in a drainage in barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.

Helen Mandal, supervisor of the Solid Waste Management of Lapu-Lapu City, caught the violation and called the Task Force Kalikasan for assistance.

Engr. Roderico Tagaan, of the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO), said the owner of the septic tank, a certain Monteclar, was informed of the violation.

Tagaan said the seven persons were released but they failed to get their names.
