League-leading Rain or Shine hopes to stay unbeaten, faces dangerous Barangay Ginebra

7:30 p.m.- Rain or Shine vs. Brgy. Ginebra

The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters try to stay ahead of the pack when they play the dangerous Barangay Ginebra Kings today in the main game of the 37th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Painters are the only unbeaten team left in the tournament, occupying the top spot with a clean 3-0 (win-loss) card.

Rain or Shine’s early success could be attributed to the steady plays of hulking import Jamelle Cornley.

Cornley’s effectiveness will be tested against Ginebra’s versatile import Cedric Bozeman.

The Kings are coming off a big win—a 100-73 spanking of the Meralco Bolts last Saturday at the Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City.

Ginebra is tied with sister-team B-Meg Llamados for the third and fourth spots with identical 2-1 (win-loss) slates.

The Llamados will see action in the opening game against the skidding Meralco Bolts.

The recently crowned Commissioner’s Cup champions Llamados started the tournament with a tough 94-100 overtime loss to the Painters but racked up two straight victories to stay at the upper of the standings.

The Bolts, on the other hand, kicked off their campaign with a rousing 105-99 win over the Talk ’N Text Tropang Texters but lost steam and absorbed two straight setbacks.
