Pasig condo residents alarmed by missing cats

MANILA, Philippines — A group of resident volunteers advocating for the welfare of cats in a Pasig condominium has raised concern after several cats under its care went missing over the past months.
In a recent Facebook post, the Cats of Satori (COS) revealed that a number of cats within its community went missing — “some quietly, others under unclear and concerning circumstances.”
“First in January, and again in June 2025. We don’t know where they are. We don’t know why. But we know this: THEY MATTER,” the post reads.
The COS pointed out that these losses have so far caused “deep worry among volunteers and residents alike.”

“We recognize that managing a residential community involves many challenges. That is why, from the start, we have approached this work with patience, openness, and the hope of collaboration. We feel disheartened by the continuing uncertainty and the absence of clear communication,” the group said.
“We are not just grieving the loss of beloved animals. We are expressing a longing for clarity, fairness, and shared responsibility,” it added.
In line with this, the COS calls for “truth about what happened to the missing cats; transparency in how related decisions are made; open dialogue between management, residents, and volunteers; and support and recognition for those who advocate for humane care.”
`Living beings, gentle souls’
“They may have been just cats to some. But to us, they were living beings — gentle souls who deserved safety, care, and respect,” the group stressed.
In a separate post, the group likewise urged residents of the condominium to sign a petition calling for truth and transparency from the Property Management Office regarding the missing cats.
They likewise called on the public to share their story and raise awareness about what happened.
Moreover, COS also requested the “immediate and impartial review of relevant CCTV footage.”
“This request is made in good faith, in the interest of transparency, accountability, and community safety, especially given that similar access has previously been granted in unrelated incidents within the same jurisdiction,” it said.
“As residents of this condominium, we respectfully assert our right to seek clarification on matters affecting our shared environment. We understand that an official police investigation is ongoing, and we remain fully supportive of that process,” the group added.
“However, we also believe that an independent review by concerned residents is both legal and reasonable, as long as it does not interfere with official proceedings. Such a review can even aid ongoing inquiries by helping preserve potential evidence and reinforcing trust within the community,” it further explained. /mr
