Pagasa: Thunderstorms to affect Metro Manila, 5 Luzon areas

MANILA, Philippines — A thunderstorm advisory was issued over Metro Manila and five other areas in Luzon on Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Based on Pagasa’s 1:38 p.m. advisory, moderate to heavy rain showers with lightning and strong winds are expected to drench the following areas within the next two hours:
- Metro Manila
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Pampanga
- Bataan
- Rizal

The weather bureau added that these conditions are being experienced in the following locations, which may persist within two hours and may affect nearby areas:
- Tarlac (San Jose, Capas, Bamban)
- Zambales (Santa Cruz)
- Nueva Ecija (Gabaldon, Palayan, General Tinio)
- Bulacan (Dona Remedios Trinidad)
- Quezon (Panukulan, Burdeos, Real, Mauban)
- Laguna (Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Pangil)
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” the weather bureau said.

The Pagasa earlier reported that the southwest monsoon, or locally known as habagat, currently affects some parts of Luzon. /das
