MANILA, Philippines — Free train rides will be implemented on Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) beginning today until Thursday, following a technical problem that delayed its operations.
“Yes, we ordered LRT-2 libreng sakay (free rides) for today and [the] whole day tomorrow,” Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon told INQUIRER.net.
Apart from the free train rides, Dizon said buses offering free rides will also be positioned in the affected segment of Antipolo to Cubao.
This announcement came after the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) stated at around 7 a.m. on Wednesday that LRT-2 is currently operating under a provisional service.
Under the provisional service, trains began operating at a limited capacity from Recto Station to Araneta Center-Cubao Station. /apl
