MANILA, Philippines — A criminology student was arrested by authorities in Marikina City for allegedly using a fake driver’s license and driving a motorcycle with an expired permit, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said.
This was the result of a routine patrol operation along Mayor G. Fernando Avenue in Barangay San Roque on Monday afternoon, according to an NCRPO statement on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old male, who introduced himself as a criminology undergraduate, was seen wearing a long-sleeved shirt bearing the Philippine National Police and Special Weapons and Tactics logos.
“When asked for proper documentation, the suspect presented a questionable driver’s license and failed to produce any valid police identification. As he opened his sling bag, officers noticed a gun-like object, later confirmed to be a replica firearm,” NCRPO explained.

“Further verification revealed the license was falsified, the motorcycle registration was expired, and the suspect had no authority to carry the said replica firearm in public,” it added.
The suspect is being held at the Marikina City Police Station custodial facility. The NCRPO did not state what charges he will be facing. /das
