MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) vowed it “will not spare” anyone in the investigation into the abduction of at least 34 missing cockfighting enthusiasts or “sabungeros.”
This came after a suspect in the case, in an interview over GMA News last Wednesday, claimed the victims were abducted and killed by police officers.
“Regardless of who is involved here, whether that may be a civilian, a high-profile person or even one of our comrades, we will not spare anyone,” PNP Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo said in a briefing at Camp Crame on Tuesday.
As to the suspect’s claim that the victims were buried in Taal Lake, Fajardo said the law enforcement agency has yet to receive a Department of Justice (DOJ) request to deploy the PNP Maritime Group or any of its units to help look for the victims.
“But, whatever assistance the DOJ will be requesting from the PNP, we are prepared to provide the same,” Fajardo stressed.

The PNP spokesperson previously said it was prepared to provide assistance and security to the suspect who made his claims in the media interview, stressing that the information must be formalized in an affidavit to further build the case. /das
