Drillship arrives for 3 new Malampaya wells
MANILA, Philippines — Department of Energy (DOE) officer in charge Sharon Garin launched on June 19 the fourth phase of drilling operations at the Malampaya gas fields.

She said the seventh-generation drillship Noble Viking arrived at the Bagong Pag-Asa offshore drill site in Palawan to start work on the Camago-3, Malampaya East-1, and Bagong Pag-asa 1 wells.
The project will be undertaken by Prime Energy. The Malampaya offshore gas-to-power project started in 2001 and now supplies as much as 40 percent of Luzon’s power demand. —PNA
