Rainy Monday expected due to ‘habagat’ – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — A rainy Monday is expected in parts of the country due to the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” according to the Philippine, Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The Pagasa said that the habagat will bring rains in Metro Manila, western portion of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon, and Visayas and Mindanao.

“Rains brought by the southwest monsoon are possible over the western section of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon, particular in Calabarzon [Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon], Bicol region and Mimaropa [Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan,” weather specialist Veronica Torres said in Pagasa’s 5 p.m. weather forecast.
Meanwhile, fair weather and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of localized thunderstorms are expected over the rest of Luzon.
“We can see that the southwest monsoon may bring rains in the western portion of Visayas and Mindanao,” Torres added.
The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will also see fair weather with chances of localized thunderstorms.

Torres also mentioned that a low-pressure area was monitored outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). She added that it had a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 to 48 hours. However, it is not expected to enter the PAR as of now.
The LPA was spotted 2,560 kilometers northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 3 p.m.

- Davao: 24°C to 33°C
- Cagayan de Oro: 24°C to 32°C
- Zamboanga: 24°C to 33°C /mr
