MANILA, Philippines — The toll on the northbound portion of the Northern Luzon Expressway (NLEx) from Balintawak to Meycauayan will be suspended on Sunday while the overpass bridge in Marilao is being repaired.
In a statement on Saturday, NLEx Corporation said the suspension will apply from 1 a.m. on June 22 until midnight on June 23.
“Appropriate traffic management measures will be in place to minimize motorists’ inconvenience while works are expeditiously undertaken. We ask for the motoring public’s patience and understanding,” NLEx Corporation further said.
This came days after a Department of Transportation (DOTr) directive to suspend toll collection on the affected segment of the expressway in the Marilao area in anticipation of traffic congestion while the bridge is undergoing repairs.

The Marilao overpass bridge was damaged after being struck at the bottom portion by an 18-wheel cargo truck, killing an individual and injuring six others last Wednesday.
The overpass bridge was previously damaged last March, leading to the closure of two northbound lanes to give way to repairs lasting about a week. /jpv
