Navy divers ready to look for missing ‘sabungeros’ in Taal Lake
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Navy said its technical divers are ready to extend assistance and search for the remains of the 34 abducted cockfighting enthusiasts or “sabungeros” who were supposedly dumped in Taal Lake.
One of the suspects, identified only as “Totoy,” made the claim as to where the victims were buried during an interview with GMA News aired on Wednesday night.
“Your Philippine Navy is always ready to assist other government agencies for the welfare of our fellow countrymen,” Navy spokesperson Capt. John Percie Alcos said in Filipino in an interview with reporters in Manila on Friday.
“Most likely, once we receive notice or a request from other government agencies in this particular case, we will refer this to the Navy Special Operations Command because our technical divers are there,” Alcos added.
The Navy spokesperson further assured that the military’s technical divers have the equipment and skill set needed for all necessary operations.
