P6.5-M illegal LPG products seized, 2 nabbed in Angeles City

MANILA, Philippines — Alleged illegal liquified petroleum gas (LPG) products valued at P6.5 million were confiscated by authorities in an operation in Angeles City, yielding the arrest of two individuals, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said.
The operation took place at a refining plant in Barangay Cuayan last Tuesday, the CIDG detailed in a statement on Thursday.
“The arrested suspects were allegedly refilling Regasco liquified petroleum gas products without the owner’s authority and permission,” the police explained.
“Furthermore, the suspects allegedly repainted the tanks covering the Regasco markings before selling the refilled LPG,” it added.
Authorities also seized equipment including an LPG storage tank, a lorry tank, weighing scales, refilling equipment, LPG cylinders and sales receipts, the CIDG noted.

Police identified the individuals arrested only as “Anthony” and “Ruel.”
The suspects were charged before the National Prosecution Service for violating Republic Act 623 as amended by RA 5700, which regulates the use of duly marked containers; as well as RA 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code.
