Closure of Makati Avenue set on June 21-22 for Pride Month event

The local government of Makati announced that roads on Makati Avenue, from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan Avenue, will be closed from June 21 to 22 to make way for the Pride Month celebration, "Spread the Love, Makati!”

MANILA, Philippines — The local government of Makati announced that roads on Makati Avenue, from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan Avenue, will be closed from June 21 to 22 to make way for the Pride Month celebration, “Spread the Love, Makati!”

In an advisory on Wednesday, Makati said the road closure will take effect from 12:01 a.m. on June 21 (Saturday) to 5 a.m. on June 22 (Sunday).

It added that “normal traffic flow shall resume on June 22, Sunday, at 5:01 a.m.”

With this, the LGU advised affected motorists to take alternate routes to their destinations:

  • Ibabaw-Ayala PUJ lines coming from Guadalupe

(Heading Ayala Avenue via usual Makati Avenue Route):

  • Turn left to Villena Street; right turn to Gen. Luna St., left turn to Don Pedro St., right turn to Kalayaan Avenue; left turn to Makati Avenue; to normal route destination.

Vehicles coming from Mandaluyong City via Makati-Mandaluyong bridge, Southbound (Heading Ayala District or Makati CBD):

A.) For light vehicles only (SEDAN / SUV /TNVS / TAXI):

  • From Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge; turn right to J.P. Rizal Ave., left turn to E. Zobel St.; left turn to Valdez St.; right turn to Century Drive.; left turn to Kalayaan Ave. or cross Kalayaan Ave. and left turn to Neptune St.; right turn to Makati Ave.; toward destination in Ayala Center – Makati-CBD.

B.) FOR HEAVY & LIGHT VEHICLES (TRUCKS):

  • From Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge; turn right to J.P. Rizal Ave., left turn to N. Garcia St.; left turn to Kalayaan Ave.; right turn to Durban St., right turn to Makati Ave.; cross Ayala Avenue/Sen Gil J. Puyat Avenue intersection toward destinations in Ayala Center – Makati-CBD.

Vehicles coming from Makati Central Business District (Makati CBD-Ayala Center – Northbound)

(Heading Mandaluyong City via Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge and heading J.P Rizal Ave. to Guadalupe; to Makati City Hall):

  • All vehicles coming from Sen. Gil J. Puyat Ave. are advised to take the one-way P. Burgos St. towards their destination in J.P. Rizal Ave. / Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge.

PUJ vehicles coming from Manila City area (Guadalupe – Taft and Guadalupe Ibabaw – Delpan. Heading Rockwell Area and Guadalupe District):

Option 1: Along Osmena St. in Barangay Poblacion, right turn to E. Zobel St.; Cross J. P. Rizal Ave.; left turn to Valdez St.; left turn to P. Burgos St. to destination.

Option 2: Along Osmena St. in Barangay Poblacion, left turn to Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge Service Road; right turn to Mabini St. and head towards J. P. Rizal Ave. (Lumang Munisipyo area) to destination.

Option 3: Along Osmena St. in Barangay Poblacion, right turn to Makati-Mandaluyong Bridge Service Road; left turn to J.P. Rizal Ave. to destination.

In a separate post, Makati has invited the public to attend the “Spread the Love, Makati!” which will take place at the stretch of Makati Avenue in Barangay Poblacion.
