MRT-3 trains temporarily stop operations due to burning wire

MANILA, Philippines — Metro Rail Transit Line-3 (MRT-3) trains temporarily stopped operations on Tuesday morning due to a burning wire between the Cubao and Santolan stations, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said.

In an advisory, the DOTr said the burning wire was reported at 7:36 a.m.

“As a safety precaution, all trains were instructed to stop at their nearest station platforms,” the MRT-3 said in the advisory.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding,” it added.

According to the DOTr, its maintenance team immediately proceeded to the site “for assessment and necessary intervention” following the incident.

In a separate advisory, the DOTr said all MRT-3 trains “resumed movement at around 8:13 a.m.”

As of this writing, the agency has yet to release details on the cause of the burning wire./mcm
