MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) was monitored inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on Monday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
In an advisory, Pagasa said that the LPA (6c) was spotted over the coastal waters of Concepcion, Iloilo, as of 2 p.m.

However, Pagasa noted that the LPA (06c) “is UNLIKELY to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.”
Last Thursday, Pagasa reported that LPA 6 B off Batanes province had developed into a tropical depression. It was given the local name “Auring.”
However, it weakened into an LPA and exited the PAR last Friday morning. It was the first recorded cyclone in the country in 2025.

Pagasa said that easterlies and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) would bring rains in parts of the country on Monday.
Easterlies, or the warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, would affect parts of Luzon and Visayas, while the ITCZ, or the convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres, would prevail in Mindanao./coa
